THE PROCESS * STEP 6 * YOUR “DIARY SCRAPBOOK”

I WILL COLLECT THEM ON ... * AFTER THE ORAL PRESENTATION * See EVALUATION

Write a 8-day diary with your co-worker:

PAGES ON THE LEFT: YOUR DIARY = max 250 words a page

Page 1 - 2: A description of WHO you are and WHEN you are living (the week that your diary describes).

Remember, the dates have been chosen for a reason! You can find clues about where you live, your job, your link with Al Capone or Eliot Ness etc. on the Internet using the addresses mentioned in STEP 3.

Page 3 - 8: Don't forget to evoke the era in which you're living! Think about the birth of the radio, cars, planes, new objects in the house; Hollywood and its stars; Artists and their new forms of expression; Architecture and booming cities; the opening of a jazz club and other entertainment from that time; some Prohibition anecdotes; fashion and your new hair style etc. (to find details about the time period, use the website links in STEP 1).

Use your imagination to create and develop your character's life BUT be accurate: base your creative writing on TRUE EVENTS and real people you "encounter" (use the website links in STEP 3).

PAGES ON THE RIGHT: YOUR SCRAPBOOK

Your “scrapbook”: use all kinds of documents from the Internet/from other resources = photographs, newspaper clippings, advertisements, color illustrations, postcards, drawings, quotations, collage etc. = 'a mosaic of memorabilia'.

Glue the objects to the page!

BE CREATIVE FOR THIS PART … COMPLEMENT your written “diary pages” with the APPROPRIATE VISUAL AIDS!

Be original !

MAKE IT something UNIQUE AND BALANCED!

USE some of the documents from Al Capone's extraordinary museum
